Today, Rachel Shenk runs The Wedge — an artisan cheese shop in the rear of the Market — but her history at the Farmers’ Market runs all the way back to its opening, twenty-five years ago. Her first business, Rachel’s Bread, used to occupy the booth across from the front doors of the Market. With her success at the Market, she was able to expand into the larger, connected property just a few years later.
Although Rachel decided to move on from her bakery, she found that she couldn’t leave the Market as a whole. She shared, “I wanted to do The Wedge… to have interaction here and support the Market. People come here every single Saturday, and we become a part of their lives and they become a part of our lives. It’s more than about the food, it’s about the community.”
